Healthy Aging: Centenarian Plays Video Game

This is an example of what healthy aging may look like. This video was taken by a local TV station in Qingdao, China when my grandma was 102 years of age. My grandma is still living as healthily as a 105-year-old can be this year (2021). Her mental sharpness is still excellent. You can see the smooth movements of her fingers to make the little beans of the same color lining up to remove them so that they would not pile up to block the neck of the bottle. Once the neck of the bottle is blocked, the game is over. I have tried to play this game I could not make it past the middle level of this game. My grandma can play to the highest level of the game, which requires fast thinking and hand movement. This shows how good her cognitive function is.

Another video game that she plays often is MaJiang, which she plays as much as the bean game which is daily. She likes to play MaJiang with real people more whenever there are enough players to play with. Social connection is a critical component for healthy aging. People gather, talk, and laugh when playing games together. In-person playing can reduce the time looking at the screen which is better for your eyes.

I would not worry too much about understanding what they talk about in the video clip since the main thing to watch here is that she thinks and talks well, and plays video games this well at this old age.
